  Progress Details: Testing has been completed on the fibre route from Burray to Sandwick and fault has been proved onto one of the two fibres 2.6KM out of Burray exchange. This is locating towards the subsea cable supplier's cable station. The cable supplier has been engaged and we are waiting for them to join the technical recovery call and also to get one of their engineers to their cable station to locate and resolve the fibre fault. Estimated time of restoration not yet known. Next update will be issued upon service restoration unless there should be a significant development.

The tester at Orkneys is faulty so the tester from Sandwick is being flown over to Burray (ETA 17:00) for testing. The engineers have got all the tools to carry out the splicing and are back at Burray where the splicing needs to be completed to restore the Banff to Burray fibres. Estimated time of restoration not yet known. Next update will be issued upon service restoration unless there should be a significant development.

  Progress Details: There are two faults, between Banff and Orkneys and Orkneys and Shetland. The subsea fibre fault from Banff to the Orkneys, a spare fibre has been identified and put through at Banff. Openreach are looking at resourcing the task for Burray in Orkneys as the fibres need to be respliced to restore that path between Banff and Orkneys. There was a disturbance early our in the morning on the sub sea cable beween Orkneys and Shetland that has caused the optic amplifiers to shut down. Technical call is working with engineers at Orkneys and Shetland to resolve the issue with the amplifiers. Next update will be issued upon service restoration unless there should be a significant development.
